About the Role
We are looking for a Multimodal Transportation Specialist to join our Multimodal Transportation Department and take an active role in the planning, coordination, and execution of international freight forwarding operations.
In this role, you will coordinate customers, carriers, freight forwarders, agents, and other logistics partners to ensure shipments are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in line with agreed terms. You will be responsible for managing transportation orders, monitoring shipment milestones, handling operational issues, supporting commercial activities, and developing strong long-term relationships with customers and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate international multimodal transportation operations in accordance with customer requirements and freight forwarding agreements.
Calculate transportation rates based on routes, shipment requirements, and additional conditions.
Participate in tender and quotation processes.
Source, evaluate, and select suitable carriers, freight forwarders, agents, and other contractors.
Negotiate transportation rates, service conditions, and other operational terms with contractors.
Prepare and manage transport orders and shipment milestones in the relevant transportation management system.
Monitor loading, unloading, transshipment, storage, and delivery processes and ensure compliance with agreed timelines.
Track shipment progress and proactively manage delays, border-crossing issues, storage, demurrage, detention, additional charges, and other operational challenges.
Coordinate effectively with customers, carriers, agents, ports, and other stakeholders throughout the transportation process.
Monitor customer and contractor invoices and support the timely resolution of payment-related issues.
Ensure transportation and shipping documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
Maintain customer and contractor records and keep relevant information and documentation up to date.
Ensure the availability of suitable contractors across relevant ports of origin and destination.
Develop existing customer and contractor relationships and contribute to acquiring new customers and logistics partners.
Prepare and implement customer visit and business development plans when required.
Plan customer activities on a monthly and annual basis and monitor progress against agreed targets.
Analyze customer and contractor performance and propose corrective actions and improvements.
Monitor transportation market conditions and industry trends and identify opportunities for business development.
Contribute to departmental projects and continuously improve professional knowledge and logistics expertise.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
Preferably a university degree in Logistics, International Trade, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferably 1–3 years of experience in transport logistics or freight forwarding.
Strong understanding of international transportation processes and the roles and responsibilities of shippers, consignees, carriers, and freight forwarders.
Knowledge of shipping and customs documentation, including bills of lading and relevant transportation/customs documents.
Familiarity with freight forwarding and carrier networks and relevant national and international industry associations.
Knowledge of the basic principles of customs guarantees and international transportation procedures.
Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and relevant logistics/CRM systems.
Experience with CRM systems and transportation management tools is an advantage.
Language Skills
Turkish: Native or C2 level.
English: B2 level or above.
Russian: Preferably an additional language.
